Quick Start Guide

Get started with AuraChain wallet in minutes

Step 1: Installation

macOS Installation

  1. Download the macOS wallet binary from the download section above
  2. Open Terminal and navigate to your Downloads folder: 
    cd ~/Downloads
  3. Make the file executable: 
    chmod +x aurachain-wallet
  4. Run the wallet: 
    ./aurachain-wallet
  5. If you get a security warning, go to System Preferences → Security & Privacy and click "Open Anyway"
Note: On first launch, macOS may block the app. This is normal for unsigned applications. You can safely allow it in System Preferences.

Windows Installation

  1. Download the Windows wallet executable (.exe) from the download section above
  2. Navigate to your Downloads folder
  3. Double-click aurachain-fullnode-wallet-windows.exe to launch
  4. If Windows Defender shows a warning, click "More info" → "Run anyway"
  5. The wallet will start automatically
Note: Windows may show a SmartScreen warning for unsigned executables. This is safe to bypass for the AuraChain wallet.

Linux Installation

  1. Download the Wallet
    Download aurachain-fullnode-wallet-linux from the download section above, or use: 
    wget https://theaurachain.org/downloads/aurachain-fullnode-wallet-linux
chmod +x aurachain-fullnode-wallet-linux
  2. Install Dependencies
    For Ubuntu/Debian: 
    sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y libgtk-3-0 libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37
    For Fedora/RHEL: 
    sudo dnf install gtk3 webkit2gtk3
    For Arch Linux: 
    sudo pacman -S gtk3 webkit2gtk
  3. Run the Wallet
    GUI mode: 
    ./aurachain-fullnode-wallet-linux
    Headless mode (no GUI): 
    ./aurachain-fullnode-wallet-linux --headless --rpc-port 12345
  4. First Launch
    The wallet will automatically:
    • Fetch the network genesis block
    • Start syncing with the blockchain
    • Create a secure master password (stored in ~/.local/share/aurachain/wallets/master_password.txt)
  5. Create Your Wallet
    Use the GUI to create a new wallet or import an existing one.
Note: Wallet data is stored in ~/.local/share/aurachain/. The blockchain database is in ~/.local/share/aurachain/blockchain.db.

Step 2: Create Your First Wallet

  1. When you first launch the application, you'll see the wallet creation screen
  2. Click "Create New Wallet"
  3. Enter a strong password (minimum 8 characters, mix of letters, numbers, and symbols)
  4. Confirm your password
  5. IMPORTANT: Write down your seed phrase (12 or 24 words) and store it safely
    ⚠️ Warning: Never share your seed phrase with anyone! Anyone with your seed phrase can access your funds.
  6. Verify your seed phrase by entering the words in the correct order
  7. Your wallet is now created and you'll see your wallet address

Step 3: Fund Your Wallet

To start using your wallet, you need AURA tokens. You can get them through:

  • Mining: Use the built-in mining feature (see Mining section below)
  • Presale: Participate in the AURA token presale on the main website
  • Receive from others: Share your wallet address with someone who can send you AURA

💸 Sending AURA Tokens

  1. Click the "Send" tab in the wallet interface
  2. Enter the recipient's wallet address
  3. Enter the amount of AURA to send
  4. Review the transaction details (AuraChain has ZERO fees!)
  5. Click "Send Transaction"
  6. Confirm with your password
  7. Wait for network confirmation (typically under 2 seconds)
Pro Tip: Always double-check the recipient address before sending. Transactions on the blockchain are irreversible!

⛏️ Mining AURA (Proof of Work)

The AuraChain wallet includes built-in mining capabilities. Here's how to start:

  1. Click the "Mining" tab
  2. Select mining algorithm:
    • SHA-256: Standard Bitcoin-style mining
    • Scrypt: Memory-intensive, ASIC-resistant
    • Argon2: Most ASIC-resistant, CPU-friendly
  3. Choose number of CPU threads to use (default: 50% of available cores)
  4. Enter your wallet address for mining rewards
  5. Click "Start Mining"
  6. Monitor your hashrate and blocks found in real-time

Mining Rewards

Current block reward: 50 AURA

Block time: ~10 minutes (PoW phase)

Next halving: Block 210,000 (~4 years)

Note: Mining rewards are automatically sent to your wallet address once a block is found. The algorithm rotates every 100,000 blocks to maintain decentralization.

🏆 Staking AURA (Proof of Stake)

Earn passive income by staking your AURA tokens:

  1. Click the "Staking" tab
  2. View your current balance and available staking amount
  3. Enter the amount to stake (minimum: 1,000 AURA)
  4. Review current staking APY:
    • Block 0-5,000: 1000% APY
    • Block 5,001-30,000: ~900% APY
    • Block 30,001-100,000: ~500% APY
    • Block 100,001-200,000: ~200% APY
    • Block 200,000+: 15% APY
  5. Click "Stake Tokens"
  6. Confirm with your password
  7. Your tokens are now staked and earning rewards!

Staking Calculator

If you stake 10,000 AURA at current APY (1000%):

  • Daily rewards: ~274 AURA
  • Monthly rewards: ~8,220 AURA
  • Annual rewards: ~100,000 AURA
Unstaking: You can unstake your tokens at any time without penalties or waiting periods. Just click "Unstake" in the staking tab.

🔍 Exploring the Blockchain

The built-in block explorer lets you view blockchain data:

  • Blocks: Browse all mined blocks, see block height, hash, timestamp, and transactions
  • Transactions: Search for specific transactions by hash, view sender/receiver, amount, and status
  • Network Stats: View current block height, total supply, hashrate, and active peers
  • Mempool: See pending transactions waiting for confirmation

Create, view, and manage NFTs directly from your wallet:

  1. Click the "NFTs" tab
  2. View your NFT collection with images and metadata
  3. To mint a new NFT:
    • Click "Mint NFT"
    • Enter NFT name, description, and upload image
    • Add metadata (properties, attributes)
    • Click "Create NFT"
  4. To transfer an NFT:
    • Select the NFT from your collection
    • Click "Transfer"
    • Enter recipient address
    • Confirm transaction

🌐 Running a Full Node

The wallet automatically runs a full blockchain node, which:

  • Downloads and validates the entire blockchain
  • Participates in the P2P network
  • Helps relay transactions and blocks
  • Increases network decentralization and security
Storage Requirements: The blockchain requires approximately 1-2 GB of storage initially and will grow over time. Ensure you have sufficient disk space.

🔐 Security Best Practices

  • ✅ Use a strong, unique password for your wallet
  • ✅ Write down your seed phrase and store it offline in a safe place
  • ✅ Never share your seed phrase or private keys with anyone
  • ✅ Keep your wallet software up to date
  • ✅ Use antivirus software and keep your system secure
  • ❌ Never enter your seed phrase on websites or send it via email/messaging
  • ❌ Don't store your seed phrase in plain text files or cloud storage
  • ❌ Beware of phishing attempts and fake wallet websites

💾 Backup and Recovery

Creating a Backup

  1. Go to Settings → Backup Wallet
  2. Choose backup location
  3. Wallet will create encrypted backup file
  4. Store this file securely (USB drive, encrypted cloud storage)

Restoring from Backup

  1. Click "Import Wallet" on the welcome screen
  2. Select "Restore from Backup File"
  3. Choose your backup file
  4. Enter your password
  5. Wallet will restore your keys and transaction history

Restoring from Seed Phrase

  1. Click "Import Wallet" on the welcome screen
  2. Select "Restore from Seed Phrase"
  3. Enter your 12 or 24-word seed phrase
  4. Create a new password
  5. Your wallet will be restored

Troubleshooting

Common issues and solutions

❓ Wallet won't start or crashes on launch

Solutions:

  • Make sure you have execute permissions (Linux/macOS): chmod +x aurachain-wallet
  • Check system requirements (minimum 4GB RAM, 2GB disk space)
  • Try running in headless mode: ./aurachain-wallet --headless
  • Check firewall settings - wallet needs ports 12345 (RPC) and 13345 (P2P)

❓ Blockchain not syncing

Solutions:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Make sure P2P port (default 13345) is not blocked by firewall
  • Wait a few minutes - initial peer discovery can take time
  • Check the "Peers" tab to see if you're connected to other nodes
  • Try restarting the wallet

❓ Transaction not confirming

Solutions:

  • Wait for the next block (PoW blocks: ~10 minutes, PoS finalization: <2 seconds)
  • Check if blockchain is fully synced
  • Verify transaction in mempool (pending transactions)
  • Check recipient address is correct

❓ Mining shows 0 hashrate

Solutions:

  • Ensure you've clicked "Start Mining" button
  • Select appropriate number of CPU threads
  • Check if blockchain is fully synced
  • Make sure wallet address is set correctly
  • Try different mining algorithm

❓ Forgot wallet password

Solutions:

  • If you have your seed phrase: Create new wallet and restore from seed phrase
  • If you have backup file: Unfortunately, without password, backup cannot be decrypted
  • Important: This is why storing seed phrase safely is critical!

❓ Getting "Unable to connect to peers" error

Solutions:

  • Check firewall/antivirus isn't blocking the wallet
  • Try different P2P port: --p2p-port 30303
  • Ensure router isn't blocking P2P connections
  • Wait longer - peer discovery can take up to 5 minutes
